How To Decorate Your Retail Store for the Holidays

Christmas Day is almost here, so it’s time to turn your retail store into a winter wonderland. It’s that time of year where you can bring some extra joy to your clients by decorating your shop in a way that showcases your celebration of Christmas. You can decorate the store with overly spirited decorations or go minimalistic with subtle hints of the season.

Here are some ways you can decorate your retail shop this year.

Add Christmas lights.

The classic Christmas tradition in the United States and the rest of North America includes decorating with candles and green, white, and red LEDs, so why not incorporate them into your shop’s decoration? You can opt for LED Christmas lights that will produce little heat and last for a longer lifetime so you can reuse them as many times as you want during the Christmas season. They come in different colors, and you can add a timer so they work during business hours.

Use festive decoration.

Add festive decorations like garlands, string lights, tree ornaments, wreaths, and even custom business Christmas cards. You can decorate your walls or displays with Christmas cards from your employees or clients. You can even create an effort for a good cause so that people can donate money in cash or with their credit cards and get a Christmas card with a discount at the store or something similar.

Tell a story.

Use your decorations and ornaments to tell a Christmas story. This can be anything from the birth of Jesus, the first Christmas, St. Nicholas, or even Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. You can decorate around these themes to attract customers that enjoy the thematics.

Incorporate seasonal signage.

You’ll also want to incorporate seasonal decoration into your signage, meaning your price tags, displays, and even store logo. Don’t be afraid to use Christmas decorations outside your shop. You can even install inflatables and other decorations to get the attention of passersby and invite them to buy at your shop.

Frost your windows.

Another of the classic Christmas trends in retail stores is to frost your windows. These can make great displays for your shop. You can add frost to your shop’s front window display to add focus on special items like new arrivals or products that are on sale so people can know what to look for when visiting your shop.

Craft your own wreaths.

Making wreaths are also one of the most popular customs in the U.S. You could use these wreaths for your doors, checkout terminals, halls, fitting rooms, and other areas you’d like to showcase them. Likewise, you can make a fun activity out of this occasion and have a competition with your staff to see who can make the prettiest or most unique wreath or garland and display them throughout the store. This makes for great conversation among your clients and can even spark up a conversation about your seasonal deals.

Showcase a good cause.

Additionally, you can prepare your shop with decorations that advocate a good cause. For instance, you can create a Christmas tree out of recycled bottles or cartons. You can also designate the underside of your tree for donated gifts that will go to the less fortunate. If you sell clothes in your retail shop, you can make garlands out of scarves, for example, and each scarf can have the name of a child that is battling cancer and needs a monetary donation. This is your chance to get as creative as you can to showcase a good cause.

Bring Santa Claus for pictures.

Lastly, you can bring your own Santa Claus to take pictures with the kids and their family members at your store. You can have elves helping around in the store so your clients can immerse themselves in the North pole setting and get that Christmas joy that only the big guy himself can bring.
