Types Of Circuit Breakers And Where To Use Them?

It is the best saying that faith is like electricity, you can’t see it, but you can see the light inside of it. Electricity can transform people’s lives socially and make a difference in today’s world. Electricity is by far the best product of the modern era.

Electrical appliances are used in our daily life. We come across them all day, so we need to know about them. Circuit breakers are one of those things that we need to know about. Here, we will tell you about circuit breakers, their different types, and where we can use them.

What Are Circuit Breakers?

A circuit breaker is an automatic operating electrical switch designed to protect all the circuits and a device for stopping the flow of current in the circuit. It is a protective device that can safeguard circuits from overloading, short circuit, and other hazards. If the fault is detected, it interrupts the flow.

There are different relays in the circuit breaker. It is a protective device that can protect your house and circuits. It is the best device that can keep you safe from various hazards.

Types Of Circuit Breakers

There are a lot of circuit breakers in the market today. Of course, every circuit breaker has its uniqueness, specialities, weakness, and prices. But all the circuit breakers are of great advantage.

There are many types of circuit breakers, but here we will discuss only a few of them. The types of circuit breakers are Low-Voltage Circuit Breakers, Insulated Case Circuit Breakers, Molded-Case Circuit Breakers, Low-Voltage Power Circuit Breakers, Medium-Voltage Power Circuit Breakers, Air-Magnetic Circuit Breakers, Vacuum Circuit Breakers, and Oil Circuit Breakers.

These are some types of circuit breakers and also some beneficial ones. Of course, they all have different purposes, but the primary purpose of all of them is the same.

Where To Use Circuit Breakers

We have told you about all types of circuit breakers above. Now we will tell you where to use them, so keep following up and let’s get started.

Low-Voltage Circuit Breakers are used in applications like motor control and in applications that require to be turned on and off simultaneously. Medium- Voltage Circuit Breakers are used in protective relays.

MCCB or commonly known as Molded-Case Circuit Breakers, are commonly used in the house or building circuits to give protection against the short circuit and overflowing of current. MCCB is the most commonly used circuit breaker in the whole category.

Air-Magnet Circuit Breakers are the most common type of MCCB. They are mostly used in arc chutes, blowout coils, and puffer tubes. Vacuum Breakers, also called VCBs, are smaller and lighter circuit breakers. However, they have mostly been ignored because of their leaking capacity that has made this circuit breaker a big fault.

In this article, you have been told all about circuit breakers. What are circuit breakers, their types, and where you can use them? If you want to get more information, then Legrand is the spot to check.
