The 1980s were unlike any other era.
From Walkmans to Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s royal wedding (which one billion people watched on TV), a lot was going on during this decade.
Are you wondering what your favorite 80s celebrities are up to 30 years later? We’ve tracked down details for three iconic stars of the 1980s and answered the question: what are they doing now?
- Tiffany 30 Years Later
Tiffany Renee Darwish released her hit single, I Think We’re Alone Now, in 1987. She was only 15. The album reached number one in the country in January of 1988. It made Tiffany the youngest female singer to top the US albums chart.
Tiffany attempted to create killer follow-up songs, but none of her other releases had the impact that I Think We’re Alone Now did.
So what happened to the 80s popstar? Tiffany makes appearances in commercials and has picked up cameos on various television shows. She also posed nude in the April 2002 issue of Playboy magazine.
But 30 years later, Tiffany has gone from 80s icon to boutique owner. In 2012, she opened Tiffany’s Boutique in Nashville, Tennessee.
The store features a variety of modern and vintage apparel. Tiffany works with local designers to create unique designs. All of the clothing is made for real, budget-conscious women who fluctuate in weight.
- Rick Astley 30 Years Later
Rick Astley commonly comes to mind when you think of celebrities who were once famous. The English singer rose to stardom when his hit single Never Gonna Give You Up debuted in 1987. By March of 1988, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Astley followed with his debut album, Whenever You Need Somebody, which featured his hit single. The album sold 15 million copies.
In 1993, Astley decided to switch gears. At 27, he stepped away from the limelight to focus on his family. He made a brief comeback in 2007 when people would use his song to “Rickroll” other internet users.
Rick Astley, currently 54, now lives in the United Kingdom with his wife. He has one daughter who lives in Denmark. In June of 2016, Astley dropped a new album titled 50 (which was also his age). It debuted at number one in the United Kingdom.
- Molly Ringwald 30 Years Later
Molly Ringwald has had her fair share of television and movie time. After being discovered while playing an orphan in Annie, she went on to star in NBC’s The Facts of Life. The show ran for three years.
During the 1980s, Ringwald became an 80s icon. Some of her hit films include Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, and The Breakfast Club.
After 30 years, Ringwald has continued to be an influential star. She starred in ABC Family’s hit television series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which debuted in 2008. More recently, fans can catch her in her recurring role as Mary Andrews on the CW series Riverdale.
