The Berkey pro care maintenance kit includes everything you need to maintain and keep your Big Berkey in its best filtering condition.
The kit includes a cleaning brush and a polishing cloth, which are both food grade materials. The cleaning brush is perfect for scrubbing out the inside of the filter element and for removing any plaque that may build up on the flow spout and faucet assembly.
The polishing cloth is used to polish the exterior of your stainless steel system, especially after you have cleaned it or when it’s been sitting unused for a while. This gives it that nice fresh appearance again.

To clean your system, you will need a bottle brush, the Berkey pro care maintenance kit, and a sink or bucket of warm water.Periodically, the Big Berkey filters will require cleaning. This is necessary because even though the filters do an excellent job of removing pathogenic bacteria and other contaminants, they cannot remove everything. Eventually, the filter pores become clogged with fine sediment, which slows water flow and reduces their filter life. How often this occurs depends on the hardness of your water and how much you use your system.
